Last night i saw Naomi Munn at the Leith Depot! It was her first headlining show and she did great! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to catch all of her set but i saw the first half and was amazed at her talent and how well she works with her band. She had one or two tuning mishaps that she quickly fixed, and during her cover of 'Doll Parts' by Hole, when her mic began glitching she continued singing beautifully. Her and her bands stage presence was so friendly and they interacted well with their (sold out) audience. overall they brought a fun and comforting feel to the venue!
The band that opened for her were called MayJune. They have been making music for a while but this was their first gig. They were very funny and each song they played had an interesting story behind it (however i couldn't find them on streaming services or youtube sadly)! Their music was amazing too, and each member worked well together (and surprisingly didn't hit each other with their instruments despite the stage being tiny) and were great with the audience.
She played songs from her new album 'New Earth' which i really adore (I've been listening to it on loop for days now). I find that her album has a similar sound to Bôa and Mazzy Star, the instrumentals at the start of 'the best bit' remind me a lot of Duster, so if you enjoy their music please give it a listen. The album itself has a very familiar and comforting vibe to me and sounds very dreamy with some rock elements in the middle and end of each song, which is very cool to listen to! She is a relatively new artist, with her first single 'I Want It Over Again' released in 2019. i would definitely recommend her music to anyone looking for a 90's style, dreamy, alternative artist to listen to!
